The Formula 1 calendar will feature 24 race weekends in 2025, just like in 2024. In addition to the Grand Prix races, six sprint events will also take place. The season opens in Bahrain, where a three-day winter testing session will be held at the Bahrain International Circuit. On Wednesday, February 26, drivers will test their new cars for the first time, with winter testing concluding on Friday, February 28.

Calendar Changes

In recent seasons, the Bahrain Grand Prix has been the opening race of the year. Since winter testing also took place on the same circuit, the first Grand Prix was typically scheduled just one week after testing. This will change in 2025 due to Ramadan, which begins on the evening of Friday, February 28. As a result, winter testing will end that day, and Middle Eastern races have been rescheduled to April.

Australia will therefore host the opening race for the first time in many years. The Melbourne street circuit was also set to hold the season opener in 2020, but the race was canceled at the last minute due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first free practice sessions of the season will take place on Friday, March 14, with the opening race set for early morning on Sunday, March 16.

Formula 1 Calendar for 2025

A week later, the Formula 1 circus returns to China, where the season’s first sprint race is scheduled. The first triple-header of the season will take place in April, starting with the Japanese Grand Prix on April 6, followed by races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. After the Miami race on May 4, the European leg of the season will kick off in Imola on May 18. The Dutch Grand Prix is listed as the penultimate event and marks the first race after the summer break, on August 31.

Formula 1 Calendar for 2025 – Six Sprint Races

In 2025, there will be six sprint weekends, just like the previous year. The first sprint race will occur during the second Grand Prix weekend in China. Sprint races will also be held on Saturdays in Miami (USA), Belgium, Austin (USA), Brazil, and Qatar. Five of these events also hosted sprint races in 2024. Austria, however, will no longer host a Saturday sprint in 2025, with Belgium taking its place, having already held a sprint race in 2023. The Netherlands will not host a sprint race in 2025, but a farewell event is planned for 2026.

British Grand Prix

In 2021, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone once again delivered an iconic race, cementing its reputation as one of Formula 1’s most historic venues. The event has consistently drawn passionate fans from around the world, creating an electric atmosphere that makes it a highlight of the calendar.

The race at Silverstone continued to thrill in 2022 and 2023, with Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris putting on standout performances. In 2024, Hamilton, driving a highly competitive Mercedes, managed to defeat reigning world champion Max Verstappen in a dramatic battle, marking a significant moment for British motorsport.

In 2025, Verstappen will have another opportunity to reclaim victory at this legendary circuit, while British drivers like Norris will aim to defend their home turf. As Silverstone remains a cornerstone of the Formula 1 calendar, its future is secure, promising more thrilling battles on the track in the years to come.
