Piastri takes pole position ahead of Verstappen, and they will share the front row. Russell is third on medium tyres and will start alongside Norris on the second row.

15:51 – Warm Conditions in Imola
The weather is still ideal at Imola. The air temperature is a pleasant 23°C, while the track, under full sun, is heating up to 41°C. All eyes are now on Pirelli’s soft C6 tyre to see if it can handle these conditions without issues.
15:57 – Changes for Colapinto’s Alpine
Alpine has made several changes to Franco Colapinto’s car. Since he’s taken over Jack Doohan’s chassis, he’s already on his fourth turbo and fourth MGU-H — the maximum allowed for the season. He’s also on his third internal combustion engine and third MGU-K, just one short of the season’s limit. Pierre Gasly is now using his third MGU-K too.
16:00 – Qualifying Starts
Time for qualifying to begin!
Q1 – 18 Minutes
16:03 – Gabriel Bortoleto sets the first benchmark at 1:16.698. He’s two-tenths quicker than Oliver Bearman, with Nico Hülkenberg and Esteban Ocon just behind.
16:04 – Lance Stroll moves up to third, but Fernando Alonso jumps to the top with a 1:16.238, just ahead of Carlos Sainz. Lewis Hamilton is close — only 0.020 seconds behind the Spaniard. Alex Albon then goes fastest with a 1:16.164.
16:05 – Charles Leclerc crosses the line with only the fifth-best time, three-tenths off Albon’s pace.
16:06 – Max Verstappen is flying but the session is suddenly halted. Yuki Tsunoda crashes hard, hitting the wall and damaging both ends of his car. Red flag.
16:07 – Replays show a dramatic accident. Tsunoda ran wide onto the gravel and grass, which launched the car into the air. He slammed into the wall and rolled over. Fortunately, he’s okay but will be heading to the medical center for a check-up.

16:17 – Restart Expected Soon
Race control says they’re aiming to restart the session around 16:20.
16:19 – It’s Official: Back in One Minute
The green light is coming soon. There are 12 minutes and 13 seconds left in Q1, but so far, only ten drivers have set a time.
16:21 – Track Action Resumes
Cars are heading back out one by one. Interestingly, Verstappen is among the last to leave the pits, even though he hasn’t set a lap time yet.
16:22 – Possible Penalty for Colapinto
Franco Colapinto exited the pit lane’s fast lane too early — before the official restart time. That could earn him a grid penalty, likely similar to what Mercedes received in Bahrain earlier this season.
16:24 – Hadjar on the Move
Isack Hadjar puts in a great lap and moves into third, just 0.089 seconds off Albon’s best time. Colapinto isn’t far behind either, jumping up to fourth.
16:25 – The Fight Heats Up
Bearman struggles again, only managing 12th out of 13 drivers, just ahead of teammate Esteban Ocon. Carlos Sainz takes the top spot with a 1:15.987 — but not for long. Pierre Gasly beats it with a 1:15.937, and then Fernando Alonso goes even quicker with a 1:15.695.
16:26 – Verstappen Answers Back
George Russell slips into second place, but Max Verstappen storms to the top with a 1:15.175. Hamilton can’t quite match the pace — he’s only ninth. Leclerc takes seventh. Lando Norris moves up to fifth, and Oscar Piastri is solid but still three-tenths slower than Verstappen.
16:28 – Mistakes Costing Time
Replays show that Norris, Piastri, Leclerc, and Stroll all made small errors on their flying laps. There’s definitely more time to find.
16:30 – Sauber drivers blocked Antonelli during the restart, and it’s Hülkenberg who is identified as having impeded the Italian. The stewards have noted the incident.
16:32 – Hülkenberg made a mistake in the final corner and remains 17th. But the stewards clear him for the unsafe release.
16:33 – And the red flag is out again at the end of Q1 as Colapinto has crashed his Alpine into the wall. The Argentine destroyed his car at Tamburello with a front-end impact. That’s the end of Q1, and it’s a shame for Colapinto, who had made it through to Q2.

Eliminated drivers: Bortoleto, Lawson, Hülkenberg, Ocon, and Tsunoda.
16:35 – Bearman’s lap is deleted. Bortoleto advances to Q2.
Eliminated drivers: Lawson, Hülkenberg, Ocon, Bearman, and Tsunoda.
16:41 – Q2 will begin at 16:46 after barrier repairs at Tamburello. Only 14 drivers will take part in Q2.
16:45 – The start of Q2 is delayed again, with no explanation given.
16:46 – You can watch the video of Colapinto’s crash on F1 .
16:47 – The FIA says Bearman’s lap is under review, as Haas believes he completed it before the red flag was shown.
16:53 – The session will resume at 16:58, but the FIA has yet to announce its decision regarding Bearman.
16:55 – Worth noting: Alonso and Stroll posted impressive third and fourth fastest times at the end of Q1. A glimmer of hope for Aston Martin?
16:56 – Bearman takes to the track, suggesting that Haas’ protest was unsuccessful.
Q2 – 15 minutes
16:58 – As drivers head out, Bearman has indeed stepped out of his car.
17:01 – Verstappen sets the fastest time with a 1:15.400, and Stroll goes second with a 1:16.150.
17:02 – Leclerc moves into second, Hamilton into third, two and three tenths behind Verstappen, respectively. Hadjar is fourth, ahead of the Aston Martins.
17:03 – Antonelli slots into seventh, and Russell takes second. Norris goes quicker and leads with a 1:15.261. Albon only manages tenth.
17:04 – Piastri goes even faster with a 1:15.241, 0.020s ahead of his teammate. Replay shows Albon had a major slide and put a wheel in the gravel.
17:05 – Sainz is only ninth, a disappointing result for Williams. Gasly is 12th ahead of Albon, with Bortoleto in 14th, while 15th is already locked in for Colapinto after his crash.
17:07 – Gasly vents his frustration after being held up by an Aston Martin: “What’s the name of the clever guy in the Aston? I’ll remember him.”
17:12 – Antonelli moves up to eighth, and Hamilton stays seventh. Leclerc improves but remains sixth.
17:13 – Sainz finishes with the fastest time in 1:15.198! And Albon sets the seventh fastest time, three tenths behind his teammate.
17:14 – Gasly climbs to sixth, and Stroll also posts the sixth best time, on medium tyres! Alonso finishes his lap on the same tyres and also takes sixth, eliminating both Ferraris! A shock at Imola, especially as local favourite Antonelli is also OUT!
The eliminated drivers are Leclerc, Hamilton, Antonelli, Bortoleto, and Colapinto.
17:16 – Q3 will begin at 17:21.
Q3 – 12 minutes
17:22 – The Aston Martin drivers head back out on soft tyres after saving a set of them in Q2!
17:26 – Stroll sets the fastest time with a 1:15.767, ahead of his teammate. Hadjar goes quicker with a 1:15.746, but Norris beats that with a 1:14.962! Piastri improves further with a 1:14.821. Verstappen goes even faster with a 1:14.772!
17:27 – Russell takes fourth fastest, and Albon moves into eighth. Sainz improves only slightly, and both Williams were on used tyres for this first run.
17:31 – The drivers head back out, with Piastri leading Stroll, followed by Albon. Hadjar comes next, ahead of Verstappen, Norris, Alonso, and a frustrated Sainz, unhappy with how long it’s taking to get going.
17:32 – The Williams cars are on medium tyres, as is Russell!
17:33 – Piastri improves despite a poor third sector due to traffic! He goes fastest with a 1:14.670.
17:34 – Albon finishes with the fifth fastest time, and Stroll takes sixth. Norris can’t do better than third! Verstappen is behind in sector two and falls short by just 0.034s! Alonso climbs to fifth and Gasly to ninth! Sainz finishes with the sixth best time. Russell beats Norris!
Piastri takes pole position ahead of Verstappen, and they will share the front row. Russell is third on medium tyres and will start alongside Norris on the second row. Alonso lines up fifth, ahead of Sainz and Albon, then Stroll. Hadjar and Gasly make up an all-French fifth row!
