Liam Lawson’s strong results and another productive weekend have extended Racing Bulls’ advantage over Alpine in the Constructors’ Championship.

Racing Bulls team principal Alan Permane has praised the collective effort behind another successful Formula 1 weekend in Singapore, where the team strengthened its grip on fifth place in the 2026 Constructors’ Championship.

Liam Lawson delivered the team’s standout performances, finishing fifth in the Sprint and seventh in Sunday’s Grand Prix. His results helped Racing Bulls collect 10 points across the weekend, extending its advantage over Alpine to 32 points.

While teammate Arvid Lindblad endured a more challenging race, the overall outcome provided further encouragement for the Faenza-based outfit as it concluded a demanding run of three consecutive Grands Prix.

Lawson delivers another strong result

Lawson produced a controlled performance in Sunday’s race, gaining a crucial position over Pierre Gasly at Turn 1 on the opening lap.

Once ahead, the New Zealander established a comfortable gap and maintained it throughout the race while carefully managing his tyres.

Permane was particularly pleased with the way Lawson executed the team’s strategy.

« A very good race in Singapore, especially for Liam. Once he passed Gasly at Turn 1 on the opening lap, he comfortably built a gap and maintained it throughout the race, managing his tyre wear well, » Permane said.

Racing Bulls responded to pit stops from Gasly and Nico Hülkenberg by switching Lawson to medium tyres for the final stint.

The decision was designed to minimise the risks associated with a potential Safety Car intervention while protecting his track position.

« We reacted when Gasly and Hülkenberg pitted, choosing the medium tyres for the remainder of the race to minimise the risks of a possible Safety Car. From there, everything went smoothly through to the chequered flag, » Permane explained.

Lawson’s seventh-place finish capped an impressive weekend in which he consistently delivered valuable points for the team.

Lindblad hampered by difficult start and power unit issues

On the other side of the garage, Lindblad was unable to convert his underlying pace into a similarly strong result.

The young driver struggled off the line after excessive wheelspin compromised his start, leaving him on the back foot early in the Grand Prix.

His difficulties were compounded by inconsistent power unit performance, which affected his rhythm and prevented him from maintaining the pace he had shown at other stages of the weekend.

« Arvid had a few difficulties and lost momentum at the start because of excessive wheelspin. He also experienced some inconsistencies with the power unit, which compromised him slightly and affected his pace, » Permane said.

Despite the disappointing outcome, Lindblad’s performance suggested that the gap between the two Racing Bulls drivers was not as significant as their finishing positions indicated.

Team effort strengthens championship position

Singapore marked another important step in Racing Bulls’ campaign, with the team consolidating fifth place in the Constructors’ standings.

Its 32-point advantage over Alpine provides a valuable cushion heading into the final stages of the season, although the battle for championship positions remains ongoing.

Permane credited the result to the sustained efforts of personnel at the circuit and across the team’s facilities in Faenza and Milton Keynes.

« We finish this run of three consecutive races on a very positive note. It is the result of the hard work carried out both here at the circuit and in Faenza and Milton Keynes, » he said.

« A huge congratulations to the entire team. We are now looking forward to this short break before the next run of three races. »

With Lawson delivering consistent points and the team continuing to execute its race strategies effectively, Racing Bulls heads towards the next phase of the championship in a stronger position.

The challenge will be to maintain that momentum and build on its Singapore performance as the fight for fifth place enters its decisive stages.
