Takuma Sato, ex-F1 and current IndyCar driver, elevates to Honda Racing Corporation’s Executive Advisor, enhancing his legacy and influence in motorsport.
Takuma Sato continues to ascend within Honda. The former F1 driver, currently a stand-in in IndyCar, is named as the Executive Advisor for Motorsport at HRC, Honda Racing Corporation. He will thus be involved in all four-wheeled sports programs.
Sato already leads the Honda Racing School, the Japanese manufacturer’s young driver program, of which he was once a pupil at the start of his career. The two-time Indy 500 winner will again compete in the event with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and Honda this year, in addition to his new role.
“I am very proud to be appointed Executive Advisor at HRC,” Sato stated. “It represents my connection with Honda, which has supported my challenges in realizing my dreams for so many years and has arrived here hand in hand.”
“In addition to passing on the skills and experience I’ve accumulated to the next generations, I will remain a challenger and continue to take on new challenges with Honda and HRC. Through these challenges, I will strive to contribute to the development of Honda’s activities in motorsport.”
“More diverse support” for HRC
Koji Watanabe, President of Honda Racing Corporation, welcomed the new addition: “We are delighted to welcome HRC’s new Executive Advisor, Takuma Sato, who has continuously progressed and garnered accolades as a racing driver.”
“As the director of HRS, Mr. Sato has already made a significant contribution to our young racing driver development efforts, but he will now broaden his involvement as HRC’s Executive Advisor.”
“We are greatly encouraged by his more diverse support for Honda’s motorsport activities. We believe people are drawn to Takuma Sato not only because of his driving talents but also because he has shown great conviction and continues to take on challenges to win.”
“We applaud the bold challenge he has undertaken by participating in the Indy 500 again this year, and we sincerely hope he will achieve the special goal of winning the Indy 500 for the third time. With the fans, HRC/Honda will wholeheartedly cheer him on.”
