Liam Lawson is set to join F1 full-time with Red Bull in 2025, confirmed by Helmut Marko today.
Dr. Helmut Marko is adamant: Liam Lawson will indeed secure a full-time Formula 1 seat in 2025.
Lawson made his F1 debut at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, stepping in for an injured Daniel Ricciardo, and subsequently appeared in five races, earning two points in Singapore.
The New Zealander has impressed Red Bull’s motorsport advisor, with Marko hinting at the time that he would be in a seat by 2025 at the latest, after Ricciardo received the green light for 2024 alongside Tsunoda.
Marko has openly expressed his desire to see Lawson in an F1 car, at least alongside the already confirmed Tsunoda, but he could also find himself directly at Red Bull Racing, meaning that Daniel Ricciardo and/or Sergio Perez would leave the Red Bull team at the end of the year.
Marko indicated that a decision regarding Lawson would be made swiftly.
“Next year, he will be in one of our cars. A decision will be made in September,” he revealed today at Zandvoort.
Marko did not specify which of the two teams – Red Bull or RB F1 – Lawson would be considered for.
“Things will be reassessed after the races resume,” Marko simply stated, likely referring to the performances of Perez and Ricciardo.
