Audi heads into the United States Grand Prix determined to maintain its recent momentum, with both drivers targeting points as Formula 1 begins another demanding triple-header.
Audi F1 arrives at the Circuit of the Americas aiming to build on its encouraging performance in Singapore, where Nico Hülkenberg secured valuable championship points for the German team.
The United States Grand Prix marks the beginning of three consecutive race weekends, taking Formula 1 from Austin to Mexico City and then Brazil. With limited time between events, the upcoming stretch will present significant sporting and logistical challenges for every team.
For Audi, the immediate objective is to consolidate the progress made in recent weeks while continuing to close the gap to its direct competitors in an increasingly competitive midfield.
The team, led trackside by Allan McNish, is particularly focused on creating more opportunities for both Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto to challenge for points.
Allan McNish: Audi Must Keep Building on Recent Progress
Audi’s Head of Racing, Allan McNish, believes the team’s performance in Singapore demonstrated that its recent efforts are beginning to deliver tangible results.
“It was encouraging to see our efforts translate into a solid performance in Singapore, and that gives us confidence heading into the next races. At the same time, we know how close the competition is and how much work we still have ahead of us.”
McNish stressed that maintaining this momentum will be essential as the championship enters another demanding sequence of races.
“Austin marks the start of another demanding run of races, and we want to approach it with the same determination we showed in Singapore. We’ve taken some good steps recently, and the objective now is to keep pushing, find that little bit of extra performance and give ourselves more opportunities to have both cars fighting for points.”
The ambition reflects Audi’s determination to turn its recent improvements into more consistent results across both sides of the garage.
Nico Hülkenberg Aims to Carry Singapore Momentum into Austin
For Nico Hülkenberg, Singapore provided a satisfying conclusion to the previous three-race sequence, with the German scoring points in both the Sprint and the Grand Prix.
The result offered a welcome reward for the team’s efforts, although Hülkenberg insists that attention must now shift entirely to the next challenge.
“Singapore was a great way to finish that run of three races, and it was nice to reward the team with some points in both the Sprint and the race. We obviously enjoyed that, but in Formula 1 you’re only ever as good as your last session, so our focus is now fully on Austin.”
The Audi driver is also looking forward to returning to the Circuit of the Americas, a venue he particularly enjoys for its combination of high-speed corners, technical sections and overtaking opportunities.
“COTA is a great circuit to drive, with a good mix of fast corners, technical sections and real opportunities to race. The Texas fans always bring fantastic energy as well.”
With another three consecutive race weekends ahead, Hülkenberg is eager to maintain the team’s positive momentum.
“We’re heading into another busy three weeks, so it’ll be nice to get straight back into it. Hopefully, we can put ourselves in a good position and give the team another reason to celebrate.”
Gabriel Bortoleto Determined to Turn Near Misses into Points
On the other side of the garage, Gabriel Bortoleto approaches the United States Grand Prix determined to secure a stronger result after a frustrating run of races.
The Brazilian acknowledges that recent weekends have not unfolded as he had hoped, despite several performances that brought him close to the top 10.
“Austin is always an enjoyable weekend, with a great atmosphere, so I’m happy to be heading back to Texas. Things haven’t quite gone the way I wanted in the last few races, so I’m motivated to get back on track and have another go this weekend.”
Having narrowly missed out on points on several occasions, Bortoleto is focused on converting that potential into a positive championship result.
“We’ve been close to the top 10 a few times, and I’m really keen to turn that into a good result. It’s the start of three consecutive races, and I’m ready to give my best to hopefully make a strong start to this new triple-header.”
Audi Targets Both Cars in the Points Battle
Audi’s immediate challenge in Austin will be to reproduce the competitiveness demonstrated in Singapore while extracting further performance in a tightly contested midfield.
Hülkenberg’s recent points finishes have provided encouragement, while Bortoleto remains determined to translate his near-top-10 performances into a stronger result.
With the United States Grand Prix opening a demanding sequence of races in Austin, Mexico City and Brazil, the team’s focus remains on maintaining its progress and creating more opportunities for both drivers to finish in the points.
