Aston Martin arrives at the Australian Grand Prix facing a serious reliability concern with its new Honda power unit.
During pre-season testing in Bahrain, abnormal vibrations severely affected the battery system, limiting mileage and forcing early shutdowns. The longest uninterrupted run ended after just 23 laps — far short of race distance.
With no confirmed permanent fix ahead of Melbourne, Aston Martin is expected to trial countermeasures throughout practice sessions. While there is no plan to deliberately retire the cars early, the risk of both cars failing to finish cannot be ignored.
This season opener could define the early trajectory of the Aston Martin–Honda partnership.
Will they reach the checkered flag?
