Ocon Aims for Top Finish in Enstone’s Home GP

04/07/2024

Esteban Ocon sets sights on success at Silverstone, aiming to triumph in what’s a pivotal race for his team.

Esteban Ocon did not finish in the top 10 at the last Grand Prix, but he still draws satisfaction from what he saw at the Red Bull Ring with Alpine F1 before the team’s home race in Enstone, this weekend at Silverstone.

“Looking back at Austria, it was overall a positive weekend and we again showed good pace by bringing the car into Q3, both for the Sprint and the Grand Prix. However, this speed was not reflected in the race and we did not fully optimize the strategy, resulting in a finish outside the points.”

“Last week further highlighted how tight the grid is, especially on a short lap like Austria. Every detail counts and thus makes a difference. That’s why we must review everything to understand what we could have done better to be in a stronger position to capitalize on opportunities, as we saw in the last laps at Spielberg. We need to analyze where we can improve to come back stronger at Silverstone.”

“The British Grand Prix is one of the best weekends of the year for a Formula 1 driver. The atmosphere is electric, the fans are true connoisseurs and real enthusiasts, not to mention the circuit, which is extremely enjoyable to drive on!”

“It’s a classic, with smooth and fast turns that really test the limits of the machines and the drivers. It is also a home race for the team, so a place where we always want to shine to give the staff at Enstone something to cheer about.”

“The track characteristics are more similar to Spain than to Austria. Finally, the weather also plays a role at Silverstone, so let’s see what the British summer has in store for us this time!”
