Aston Martin F1 Team – Precision, Performance, Elegance

Aston Martin, a British car manufacturer, has a history in Formula One and is gearing up to compete as the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team in 2024. Their initial foray into Formula One in 1959 with the DBR4 chassis and their own engine was unsuccessful, failing to score any points. The poor performance continued through the 1960 season, prompting Aston Martin to exit Formula One after that year.

The team re-entered Formula One in 2021 after a commercial rebranding of the Racing Point F1 Team, now racing as Aston Martin, using Mercedes power units. Starting in 2026, the team will switch to Honda power units through a works partnership with the Japanese manufacturer. Lawrence Stroll owns the team, with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll as race drivers since the 2023 season. Headquartered in Silverstone, the team has undergone various name changes, starting as Jordan Grand Prix in 1991.

The Aston Martin F1 Team

The Aston Martin F1 Team joined Formula 1 in 2021, taking over Racing Point F1 after the 2020 season. Lawrence Stroll, an Aston Martin shareholder, is one of the team’s owners. In 2023, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will represent the team.

Aston Martin previously partnered with Red Bull Racing, and from 2018, the team was known as Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. However, this collaboration focused on sponsoring and contributing to the Aston Martin Valkyrie road car. The partnership concluded when Aston Martin established its own team in 2021.

After acquiring Racing Point, Aston Martin, led by the Stroll investor group, became the majority shareholder. Notably, the Formula 1 team’s operations, including the factory, remain near the Silverstone circuit.

For the 2023 season, Aston Martin needed a new driver as Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement in 2022. The replacement for the four-time world champion is Fernando Alonso, a two-time world champion. Alonso, departing from Alpine after two years, joins Lance Stroll as his teammate. Pierre Gasly takes over Alonso’s position.
