Pierre Gasly stays tight-lipped about his F1 future but is eager to climb the grid rankings.
Pierre Gasly has refrained from disclosing his future plans in Formula 1 beyond the conclusion of the 2024 season, though he has expressed a desire to “compete for better positions” on the grid.
Alpine has confirmed an impending separation with Gasly’s current teammate, Esteban Ocon, at year’s end. Gasly’s own contract is also set to expire at the close of the season, and he has not concealed that he is also reviewing his options for 2025. This scenario leaves the French team at risk of losing both of its current drivers unless they offer Gasly an extension or he decides to depart.
When prompted to discuss his future, the driver from Normandy remained very cautious.
“I prefer not to elaborate too much, as it’s all too easy to take comments out of context, but we are all well aware of the current driver market situation,” he stated.
“At this moment, I have nothing to declare, and you will be informed when there is something to announce. Obviously, you are also aware of the ongoing developments,” he added.
“I am evaluating my options just as I am certainly pushing our team in every area I can as a driver, since our goal is shared by all.”
“Nobody enjoys the position we are currently in, but I must say, I see the drive,” he noted.
“I see the reaction, I definitely perceive a positive attitude in what is a challenging situation for all of us.”
“Of course, I love and want to fight for better positions… I suppose time will tell in the weeks and months ahead what we will do with the results we have achieved in the wind tunnel, and the decisions we will make regarding our future concept,” Gasly concluded.
