Lawrence Stroll: An Icon of Canadian Business

The boss of F1 Aston Martin Team, Lawrence Sheldon Strulovitch, better known as Lawrence Stroll, born on July 11, 1959, in Montreal, Canada, is a Canadian entrepreneur and investor. According to Forbes magazine, his wealth is estimated at 3.6 billion US dollars in 2023.

He provides financial support for the racing career of his son, Lance Stroll, who has been a Formula 1 driver since 2017. In 2018, Lawrence Stroll acquires the assets of the Formula 1 team Force India and establishes Racing Point F1 Team. In 2020, he takes control of the British car manufacturer Aston Martin, which becomes the new name for his Formula 1 team starting from 2021. Lawrence Stroll has amassed his fortune in the fashion industry, following in his father’s footsteps, who brought brands like Pierre Cardin and Ralph Lauren to Canada. He has invested in brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Garrard & Co.

With a passion for cars, he owns an extensive collection of Ferrari models and is the proprietor of the Mont-Tremblant Canadian circuit.

Stroll Revitalizes Racing

In the summer of 2018, leading a consortium of investors, Stroll acquires the assets of the financially troubled Force India Formula 1 team, creating the new team Racing Point Force India F1 Team. Sergio Pérez retains his seat for the 2019 season, while Esteban Ocon leaves the team, replaced by Lawrence Stroll’s son, Lance. In its inaugural season under its new identity, Racing Point finishes 7th in the Constructors’ Championship.

On January 31, 2020, the day of Brexit, Stroll acquires a 16.7% stake in Aston Martin by purchasing shares of the automaker for 216.6 million euros. He invests 380 million euros in the brand with the consortium Yew Tree Overseas Limited and becomes the Executive Chairman of the automaker, which replaces Racing Point in Formula 1 in 2021.
