Haas F1 Team – Racing Excellence in Formula 1

Haas F1 Team, the Formula 1 team founded by Gene Haas in 2014, entered the F1 circuit in 2016. Gene Haas serves as the CEO of the team, which is led by the Italian Guenther Steiner. The current drivers for the team are Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen. Mick Schumacher, the son of the seven-time world champion, clinched the Formula 2 title in 2020, while Kevin Magnussen makes a return after previously driving for the American team from 2017 to 2020. Haas has long been utilizing Ferrari engines.

Disappointing 2021 Season

Heading into the 2021 season, Haas F1 Team opted for two rookies, choosing not to retain Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen. The team continued with Mick Schumacher and introduced Nikita Mazepin. Schumacher, earning his place in Formula 1 after winning the Formula 2 title, contrasted with Mazepin, whose presence in the team was largely attributed to substantial financial support from his father, Dmitry Mazpin.

Haas strategically directed its focus toward the regulatory changes slated for 2022. Consequently, the 2021 car received minimal development, reflected in the performance results. The Haas F1 Team car secured Q2 appearances only twice and failed to score any points throughout the season.

Strong Start for the Team

Not every new team establishes immediate competitiveness in Formula 1, but Haas had an impressive start in 2016. In fact, Romain Grosjean finished sixth in his debut race for the team. In the subsequent years, Haas consistently contended for points finishes. The 2019 season, however, stood out negatively as the car lacked speed and often found itself in the back of the grid.

The 2020 season was a survival mission for Haas F1 Team. As a private team, it faced severe impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, lacking a substantial budget and contending with an uncompetitive Ferrari power unit, Haas halted its development early in the season. In total, Haas earned three points in 2020, securing a ninth-place finish in the Constructors’ Championship. Their avoidance of the last spot was due to Williams failing to score any points that season.
