Williams F1 eyes redemption at the Canadian Grand Prix, with the FW47 aiming for strong performance on Montreal’s fast, technical street circuit.
Williams F1 had been one of the pleasant surprises of the season… until the Spanish Grand Prix.
The FW47 fell back into the pack in Barcelona, and drivers Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz, who were expecting a tough weekend, still believed they could achieve more.
The atmosphere should be quite different in the garage this weekend in Montreal, Canada, as the Williams thrives at high speeds.
“Canada offers plenty of opportunities, and I have good memories of my overtakes there last year!” Albon recalls.
“The weather can be changeable, but we’ve performed well in all conditions so far this year, so we’ll be looking to make the most of it. We didn’t end the triple-header as we wanted, with a tough race in Barcelona, so we’re determined to come back strong in Montreal.”
For Sainz, “despite the busy last few weeks, with the triple-header ending in Barcelona and the roadshow in Madrid last Saturday, I feel refreshed and excited to head to Canada for what I hope will be a positive weekend!”
“Canada is always a fun track to drive with lots of overtaking opportunities, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can do with the FW47 on this circuit!”
“The weather always plays a key role in Montreal with unpredictable conditions, so we’ll take every opportunity and push hard all weekend.”
