Verstappen upbeat as Red Bull eyes bounceback in Montreal

Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda reflect on Friday’s F1 practice in Montreal as Red Bull and RB fine-tune for qualifying.

Max Verstappen finished within the top 10 on the opening day, but the Red Bull driver may not have revealed his full potential, having set the fastest time in the first session of the day.

“Honestly, the day went well. In FP1, we were quite satisfied with the car, but FP2 was a bit more difficult for other reasons.”

“The balance was a bit off and we felt a bit less comfortable, which we need to analyze. But overall, I think it was quite a positive day for us.”

“If we can get back to the FP1 level, everything will be fine.”

“Tomorrow is qualifying, we’ll see. There’s still one session left to get everything right, we just need to be in a good window and we’ll see how far we can go in qualifying.”

Tsunoda targets Q3 after setup strides in Montreal FP

Yuki Tsunoda ended the day in 16th place and admitted there’s still work to do to fully get on top of his RB21 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. However, the Japanese driver believes he has a solid baseline and is targeting a top 10 in qualifying.

“The feeling is okay, there are things to look at for tomorrow, which is good because it will help us gain time per lap. We’ve made good progress with the setup, but not enough, so we’re going to keep improving. I need to be in Q3, that’s the goal. We’ll see how things go tomorrow.”
