Four-time F1 world champion Max Verstappen returns to Montreal, aiming to bounce back as Tsunoda hits his 100th Grand Prix.
Three-time winner of the Canadian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen is eager to shine again this weekend as Formula 1 heads to Montreal. The Red Bull driver is looking to put a disappointing Spanish GP behind him—one that ended with a heavy penalty—and is targeting a solid result across the Atlantic.
“Barcelona was a disappointment for us and, although we gave it everything, the race didn’t go the way we had hoped. We’ve had a short break after the three races. I went to Hangar-7 to celebrate its reopening with the team, and we’re looking forward to Canada,” said Verstappen.
“The track there is very unique, with old-school kerbs and plenty of overtaking opportunities. Car setup will be important and it’s always more of a challenge with the heavy braking zones.”
“Last year’s race was exciting, we managed to take the win and I hope we can deliver another strong performance this week. The weather conditions look slightly better than last year, so we’ll see what happens.”
Yuki Tsunoda will contest his 100th Formula 1 race this weekend, and he’s hoping to mark the occasion in style: “I’m really looking forward to this week in Canada, it’s one of my favourite races on the calendar. I love Montreal and the overall vibe of the city, the food, the shopping—it’s just a great place to be.”
“This weekend is also my 100th race in Formula 1, which is kind of crazy. It feels like I just started, but also like it’s always been my life. Each of those 100 races has been special, and I feel lucky to be in this sport.”
“I’d like to mark my 100th race with a result that does the occasion justice. I had two good days of testing in Barcelona after the race and also did simulator work in Milton Keynes, so we’ve been working hard together and I’ve now logged many more miles in a Red Bull Racing car.”
“After Spain, we need to have a better qualifying and that’s what we’ve been working on. Weather in Canada can be unpredictable, but it looks like it might be quite dry and stable for once, which should help us reach our goals.”
