Verstappen Praises Fast RB21 and Smart Tyre Strategy

Max Verstappen hails Red Bull’s RB21 performance and tyre choices after securing front-row start for the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.

Max Verstappen will line up on the front row for the Canadian Grand Prix alongside George Russell. The Red Bull driver is pleased with his qualifying performance, which confirmed the strong form of his RB21 at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

“I think the car was in a good window all weekend. The track is very cool; it’s like a big kart to throw over the kerbs, there are heavy braking zones and you need to be quick on the straights, which we are,” Verstappen said.

“I am satisfied with my qualifying; I think the car worked well again, but the crucial decision concerned the tyres, which ones to use. I believe we made the right choice.”

Although he will start on the clean side of the track, the Dutchman would have preferred pole but accepts his position: “I would always choose first place, but we’ll see what we can do tomorrow. I am happy to be on the front row and I hope to have a good race tomorrow.”
