Following his Bahrain GP pole win, Max Verstappen fully supports Christian Horner, despite recent investigations.
Max Verstappen expressed full confidence in Christian Horner, describing the Red Bull team director as an “incredible team leader” following his pole position win at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Horner was the subject of an independent investigation initiated by Red Bull GmbH earlier this year, with allegations against him dismissed on Wednesday. However, after documents purporting to be evidence from the investigation were circulated among senior Formula 1 officials and the media on Thursday, the situation remained under scrutiny, yet Verstappen continued to support the fifty-year-old.
“Listen, when I look at how Christian operates within the team, he has been an incredible team director, so absolutely, from a performance standpoint, you cannot question that. That’s what I’m dealing with and what I take away from it.”
“I talk a lot with Christian, and also throughout this weekend here, he is fully committed to the team; he is also there for performance. Of course, he’s probably a bit distracted by the speculation. But we focus solely on the performance aspect, and that’s how we all work together.”
Verstappen: Focus Unshaken by Leaked Documents
Regarding the leaked documents, Horner had specific meetings with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem (who also directly received the documents), before qualifying, but Verstappen claims this was not a distraction for the team.
“From my side – and I think what I can also see from the side of the mechanics and engineers – we are fully focused on the car and the performances here during the weekend. That’s how things should be, I think, and that’s what we continue to do, because it’s not our business – we are not particularly involved in that. We are here, we are paid to do our job, and that’s what we do and that’s also what we love to do. So, that’s what we focus on.”
