Yuki Tsunoda remains fully committed in F1 despite Red Bull struggles, determined to improve performance and showcase growth across challenging race weekends.
Yuki Tsunoda tested the 2023 RB19 in Barcelona after the Spanish Grand Prix, and the Red Bull driver was able to make a better comparison between what was a dominant car and his current one, from which he struggles to extract the full potential.
“I’m still learning in the car. I did some good laps in Barcelona and had a good comparison between the RB19 and the RB21 by driving them on the same circuit. It was a tough weekend in Barcelona. I need to forget that and start fresh,” Tsunoda said.
Despite a difficult season with Red Bull, the Japanese driver remains satisfied with the effort he puts in and his commitment under all circumstances, even when facing challenging weekends.
“I would say it’s not necessarily a disappointment. I’m still giving my maximum effort, and that’s the most important thing for me. If you’re not giving 100% at every race, you can find excuses. But at every race with Red Bull, I was in good shape each time, even if I had tough moments.”
“It was difficult and bad in Barcelona, but at least I can say I gave 100% of what I had with the car as it was, even if it was a weekend to forget. But you get used to it. You can’t always think about the previous race. You have to focus on the next one and try to understand what can be done better.”
Tsunoda admits he knows what fate Red Bull could have in store for him if things do not improve in the coming weeks.
“As long as I’m not really performing, I know what’s going to happen.”
“I know myself, and this is not the level I should be at. But yes, we’ll see. I’m confident about making a strong comeback.”
“It’s not just about… you like to talk about the second seat at Red Bull, but that’s how it is. I know I’ve proven things over the past few years and in recent races, especially at the start of the season, and yes, a lot is going on.”
