F1 teams will skip a joint 2026 season launch, prioritising car development for new regulations on power units and chassis design.
Formula 1 has confirmed there will be no joint season launch for the 2026 F1 season, as the sport and the teams are focusing on developing new cars that comply with an entirely new set of regulations.
The 2026 F1 season marks the start of a new regulatory era in Formula 1, with upcoming rules affecting both chassis and power units, leading to an extended pre-season testing process.
Formula 1 launched the 2025 season with a grand event at London’s O2 Arena, in front of a large audience. The event, broadcast worldwide, was a clear success, offering each team a platform to showcase its style and identity.
It was the first time in the sport’s history that teams came together for such a collective event, held in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the World Championship.
However, given the significant new challenges teams will face over the coming winter, such an event will not be repeated.
Each team will therefore unveil its car individually in January, as initial testing is scheduled for late January in Barcelona over five days (with only three available to each team).
