Stake F1 Team reveals the C44 as their 2024 season challenger

05/02/2024

Stake F1 has unveiled the very first single-seater in its young history. The team, formerly known as Sauber, and Alfa Romeo in recent years, begins a new two-year chapter in its tumultuous history.

Thus, under the name Stake F1 Team, it will compete in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, before becoming Audi in 2026. And this new identity comes with new colors that could be described as radical.

Besides a carbon black base, a neon green makes its appearance on the single-seater, highlighting Kick, the team’s other main partner, which also gives its name to the car, the C44.

It is revealed today through 3D visuals, pending its appearance on the track for a shakedown. Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou, whose suits also adopt these colors, will continue as its drivers.

The C44 has “impressive potential”

It is unveiled today, with anticipation to see it on the track for a shakedown. Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou, whose suits also feature these colors, will continue as its drivers.

“We’ll be much faster in green!” Bottas joked. “It’s an exciting new era for the team, we’re eager to unveil the car, but more so to get behind the wheel. It’s thrilling. It was a tough year in 2023, and we want more than that. We’ve seen all the motivation, the spirit at the factory, and it’s exciting for the year ahead.”

“The new C44 definitely looks different, in terms of appearance and what we can expect from the car. We need to perform as a team and make the most out of this car, which has impressive potential – nothing else matters.”

“Personally, as we approach the team’s third season, the goals have to be ambitious. My own expectations are high, we absolutely need to make a significant step forward and progress from last year.”

“It was a season where, honestly, we didn’t achieve the goals we had set for ourselves. We need to address that now, we need to step up our game and do better, but I’ve seen real enthusiasm at Hinwil and I’m convinced we can achieve it.”

Zhou wants to “extract more potential” in 2024

Guanyu Zhou, for his part, is amused to see so much green, and he hopes to continue progressing in his third F1 season: “I don’t have much green in my wardrobe, not yet, I’ll have a bit more this year. It’s a new chapter, this new identity, and I’m looking forward to starting.”

“There’s been a lot of effort put into this pre-season, and last season was difficult, but we’ve learned from those hard times. We know where we want to be, we want to share all the details with our engineers, and I want to extract more potential from myself and the car. Bahrain will be exciting.”

“It’s very motivating to start a new chapter, we had a lot of changes last year with James [Key, technical director] coming in, and it’s the first season he has worked on. You can’t miss the color! It’s a very exciting new approach, especially in Formula 1.”

“Expectations are high but, at the same time, we won’t really know where we stand until we start comparing ourselves with our rivals. Either way, a lot of effort has gone into the new car and I’m eager to drive it soon.”
