Bottas Sets Sights on Jeddah Comeback

05/03/2024

Following a strong start in Bahrain, Stake F1 targets further success in Jeddah, with Alunni Bravi emphasizing flawless execution.

Stake F1 is looking forward to a positive second race of the season in Jeddah, following a promising start in Bahrain last Saturday. Team representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi is confident but acknowledges that his team must execute flawlessly against closely matched competition.

“We head into the next race in Jeddah with confidence: we’ve seen what we’re capable of in race conditions, having convincingly been the sixth-best team in Bahrain, and we believe we can take it a step further this weekend,” said Alunni Bravi.

“We know what we need to improve, both in terms of the car and execution. Our single lap performance needs to be better, as higher grid positions would allow us to be in the thick of the battle for the final points-scoring positions right from the start of the race.”

“We must continue to work on fine-tuning the car’s settings to unlock its full potential. The Saudi Arabian circuit is very different from Sakhir, and mastering the conditions—track surface, layout, temperature—from the first practice session is crucial. The competition is tight, and every small detail can make a difference.”

“Focusing on the Positives”

Valtteri Bottas is eager to see what his car can achieve on a vastly different track and aims to bounce back after a disappointing race in Bahrain: “One of the positives of back-to-back races is the opportunity to immediately rebound after a disappointing race, and that’s my aim for Jeddah.”

“I prefer to focus on the positives from last weekend: we were able to see the solid race pace our car can provide, not just in Zhou’s performance but also in mine, despite the damage I sustained at the start.”

“We can build on this foundation and ensure that other elements of the weekend also improve, and I have full confidence in our ability to be competitive on all circuits. The Saudi Arabian circuit is fun to drive: it’s fast, has some really challenging corners, and sections of incredible flow.”

“It’s a street circuit, and with that comes specific challenges: track evolution plays a significant role as the weekend progresses, and teams need to be able to react to it. I’m looking forward to it and seeing what we can do on a circuit very different from last time.”

Zhou’s Confident Push

In the other Sauber C44, Guanyu Zhou aims to continue leading the second half of the pack: “Last week’s performance has boosted confidence for the entire team. We know our car’s foundation is solid and that we can fight at the front of our group.”

“However, we also know we need to keep pushing to understand how to extract its potential and set it up most efficiently. There’s a lot in the works, and we’ll try to make the most of every opportunity that comes our way.”

“From a personal standpoint, I’m very pleased with what I managed to do in Sakhir: it was a strong start to the season, and it has made me eager to do more. Jeddah is another chance to perform well, and everyone on the team is keen to affirm our position and fight for some points.”
