Stake F1 wraps up an optimistic preseason, completing 380 laps over three days at Sakhir, with Bottas and the team focusing on the new C44.
Stake F1 concluded a positive preseason by completing 115 laps at the Sakhir circuit, reaching a total of 380 laps over three days. Valtteri Bottas expressed satisfaction in gathering extensive data on the new Kick Sauber C44.
“Today was somewhat more challenging due to the red flag causing significant track time loss,” Bottas stated. “By ending the session with precautionary checks, we missed out on a few test laps and points, yet we managed to adhere to our predetermined priorities.”
“We’ve learned more about the C44 and feel well-prepared for the race. Assessing actual performance and competition remains tough, but we’re confident in the data we’ve collected. Now, it’s about analyzing, learning, and improving before race weekend.”
Guanyu Zhou also had a productive day, completing over 80 laps on Friday: “We had another solid day focusing on long runs, managing to cover a full race distance again.”
“We completed our program and experimented with various settings and configurations to draw conclusions. With a brand-new car, assessing full potential is challenging; we’ll continue to work and progress in the days ahead to be ready for the upcoming weekend.”
“However, we’ll have to wait until the first qualifying session and race to understand our true performance and ranking relative to other teams. We feel good and will use the remaining days for learning and identifying areas for improvement.”
“The C44 performed as expected”
James Key, the technical director, was pleased with three productive test days without any alerts or difficulties: “We’ve learned a lot over these three days of testing.”
“With a logical approach like every other team, we arrived with a checklist and many new elements we wanted to understand better.”
“I believe we managed to check off everything. The C44 performed as expected, completing approximately 380 laps in three days, which reflects the team’s hard work at Hinwil during the winter.”
“Everything operated as anticipated – there were no surprises in the garage, and despite having to cut Valtteri’s session short earlier in the day due to the red flag and to conduct some precautionary checks, we still managed to accomplish our plan for the day.”
“Overall, these three days were productive and informative for our team, and the data gathered will serve as a solid foundation for us to build on before the season’s first race.”
“Of course, discussing lap times is futile, as each team had its own priorities during the tests, and we’ll likely learn more about everyone’s performance next week. Nevertheless, the sentiment at the end of testing is positive, and we’ll strive to continue in this direction throughout the season.”
