Carlos Sainz shares insights on Hamilton’s Ferrari switch, revealing his early awareness. Amidst a looming Ferrari exit and speculation about his future, Sainz discusses his preparedness and focus on the upcoming season.
Sainz acknowledges foreseeing Hamilton’s move to Ferrari. “From the inside, I knew and saw things before all of you.” Carlos Sainz has broken his silence after confirming he will be replaced by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton in 2025.
Sainz’s Future: Challenges and Insights Revealed
The Spaniard was already linked with a potential move to Sauber-Audi, but 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve asserts that his “negotiating power” has been significantly reduced by his upcoming ousting at the end of the season.
Former Renault F1 team boss Flavio Briatore believes that “Sainz will arrive at winter testing very annoyed with a great desire for revenge. But I see him fitting in well at Audi, just like his father.”
Sainz issued a brief statement to the media when the news broke, but he has now faced a barrage of questions as he launched his new karting brand CS55 (photo below).
“I’m calm, I’m doing fine,” he says.
Toto Wolff stated that Hamilton had only informed him of this explosive decision the day before the announcement, but Sainz insists he had more warning than that something was afoot.
“From the inside, I knew and saw things before all of you. I was prepared and we are already working on the future, but we know we have a very important season ahead of us.”
Sainz Confident Despite Ferrari Exit News
He denies that the news has left a big question mark over his entire future Formula 1 career.
“I am very aware of my value as a driver, and for this reason, I am very calm when I look to the future. Good things will definitely come, but for now, my focus remains on doing my best with Ferrari.”
However, he admits that having to give back his red suit at the end of this season is a hard blow.
“It’s certainly not the best feeling to start the season, but as soon as I put on my helmet in Bahrain and am on the track, the only feeling I will have is the desire to win the world championship.”
“Knowing that it’s the last year with a team is not the most normal thing to start a new season, but you can be sure that I will only think about going as fast as possible.”
Meanwhile, a journalist asked if he would give advice to Hamilton as the most titled driver of all time prepares for his move to Maranello.
“He should try my kart!” Sainz smiles.
