Carlos Sainz secures his third podium this season in Suzuka, showcasing his skill in a fiercely competitive race.
Fresh from victory in Australia two weeks ago, Carlos Sainz once again ascended the podium at Suzuka, marking the twentieth podium of his career after delivering an aggressive race from start to finish.
Starting fourth on the grid, the Spanish driver initially clashed with his former teammate Lando Norris before having to contend with the alternative strategy of Charles Leclerc’s other Ferrari.
With the Monégasque making only one pit stop, the middle segment of the race featured intense battles, but logically, Sainz emerged to clinch another podium, his third in the three Grand Prix held this season.
“It was a good race; I’m happy because it was tough with tire degradation,” Carlos commented to Mark Webber at the finish. “Luckily, the clouds came out, and the grip was better at the end, which allowed me to make some nice overtakes.”
“One had to negotiate the last chicane well to benefit from the DRS effects on the straight,” he continued. “I knew the podium was in sight, but I had to fight for it by being faster than Lando and Charles in the end. Now, I’ll recover physically before tackling the demanding Sprint weekend in Shanghai.”
