Ricciardo Shines, Finishes Fourth in Miami Sprint

04/05/2024

Daniel Ricciardo delivered a strong performance in Miami, finishing fourth after a fiercely competitive Sprint. The RB F1 driver demonstrated his skill and resilience throughout the race.

Starting fourth and finishing in the same position, Daniel Ricciardo executed a flawless Sprint in Miami. The RB F1 driver briefly moved up to third at the start but had to yield to Sergio Pérez, before primarily contending with Carlos Sainz, whom he managed to keep behind him until the finish.

“It’s fantastic, fighting at the front is much more enjoyable, seeing a Ferrari in your mirrors and accepting the challenge,” Ricciardo joked. “Honestly, with every lap that I kept Carlos behind, I’d give myself a little pat on the shoulder, and as I approached the finish, I believed I could make it.”

“It was a Sprint in every sense of the word; I gave it everything, I left nothing behind because I knew that’s what it took to achieve this result. We’ve been through a lot to get to this level with the team, and it’s great to remind people of that.”

Yuki Tsunoda scored a point, bringing RB F1’s total to six for this Sprint, though he was frustrated to have lost eighth place on the track to Lewis Hamilton before reclaiming it through a technicality: “I’m happy for the team and hats off to Daniel for securing fourth place. I lost the battle at the end, and the result allowed me to take back the eighth spot.”

“However, I would have preferred to finish ahead because without the penalty, I would have been ninth. I need to improve, and we don’t like this as drivers, but I’m happy to give back to the team with points. I’m very pleased for the team, though slightly less so for myself.”
