A new Formula 1 presentation date for 2024 has been announced, and it’s a significant one, as it’s for Red Bull.
The Austrian team will unveil their RB20 on February 15th. As in previous years, it’s unlikely that the RB20 will actually be shown in person, and it might just be a livery on a modified car from last year.
However, time is running out until the first winter tests in Bahrain from February 21st to 23rd, so we might still be in for a pleasant surprise!
Unsurprisingly, as Christian Horner has already indicated, the RB20 will be an evolution of the highly dominant RB19 from last season. This positions Red Bull as a clear favorite for the start of 2024, as the team started developing their new car early, seeing how well the RB19 performed with limited possible evolutions (due to a more severe aerodynamic time restriction exacerbated by an additional 10% penalty).
Max Verstappen can begin the new year with a relatively calm mind. The pressure remains on Sergio Perez, who needs to quickly prove that he can be competitive this year in case the grid tightens even further. Otherwise, he could soon be replaced… by Daniel Ricciardo, before the championship situation becomes irreversible.
