As after every Grand Prix, it’s time to discover the most striking statistics, the records that have been broken, the remarkable streaks still ongoing or those that have abruptly ended last weekend…
Qualifications
Max Verstappen secured his 7th consecutive pole.
This is the longest streak of his career and the longest in F1 since Lewis Hamilton’s seven consecutive in 2015.
This year, Verstappen is undefeated in qualifying (for a Grand Prix on Sunday).
The last driver to have clinched the first six poles of a season? Alain Prost in 1993.
This is the 38th pole position of the Dutchman’s career and the 101st for Red Bull in F1.
Carlos Sainz remains the only driver to have started each race in Miami in the top three.
Red Bull had locked out the front row in the last two Grands Prix, but Sergio Perez finished 4th in Q3.
The two McLaren F1 cars had been eliminated in Q1 in Miami last year; they started in the top 6 this year.
It’s the first time Mercedes has placed both cars in Q3 in Miami.
Nico Hulkenberg qualified 9th for a second consecutive Grand Prix.
Yuki Tsunoda has made it to Q3 four times in the last five races.

Alex Albon has been eliminated in Q2 every time this year.
Fernando Alonso failed to reach Q3 for the first time in 2024.
Both Sauber cars were knocked out in Q1 for the third time this year.
Logan Sargeant’s 17th place is his best qualifying performance of the season.
Kevin Magnussen suffered his third consecutive Q1 elimination.

The race
He did it! Lando Norris won his first Grand Prix in F1 at Miami.
He becomes the 21st Brit and the 114th different driver in history to win a Grand Prix.
Like Patrick Depailler, Jean Alesi, Mika Hakkinen, and Eddie Irvine, Lando Norris had to wait for 15 podiums before tasting victory (a record).
Nick Heidfeld thus reclaims the sad record of the most podiums without a win (13 podiums).
Norris won on his 110th start for McLaren, the same number as Lewis Hamilton with McLaren F1 from 2007 to 2012.
Norris is the first driver to achieve a first win in the United States since Michele Alboreto at Caesars Palace in 1982.
As a reminder, Lando Norris finished 17th at the Miami Grand Prix 2023, 1m 27s behind Max Verstappen.
The British national anthem was heard on the podium for the first time since Sao Paulo 2022.
McLaren has only won its second Grand Prix in the last 12 years (the other was won by Daniel Ricciardo at Monza 2021).
