Oscar Piastri responded calmly to his late-race clash with Lando Norris, choosing not to accuse his teammate of foul play.
Oscar Piastri responded after the race and after Lando Norris apologized for their late-race collision.
The McLaren F1 driver finished in fourth place, without losing any position following this first incident between the two teammates.
The Australian chose not to blame Norris when speaking to the media immediately afterward.
“Obviously, it’s not ideal for anyone, but I haven’t seen the incident, so I don’t know exactly what happened.”
“But if Lando took full responsibility, then I guess that’s how it is. A bit of a tricky race overall and a far from ideal ending.”
“The battle had been fair up to that point, at least I thought so. He got a good exit out of Turn 10, held on through the chicane, and the fight was tough but clean until then.”
“Again, I haven’t seen the incident, but I don’t think there was any bad intention, I think it was just unfortunate. I’ll definitely go and look at it, of course, but we are both fighting for the world championship and I’m very thankful to the team for letting us race.”
“I don’t think it will change anything in that regard. We’ll keep racing each other all year.”
