Pérez: Red Bull’s Miami Misstep Corrected in Simulator

16/05/2024

Sergio Pérez explains how Red Bull identified and corrected their mistakes from the Miami Grand Prix through intensive simulator work, boosting confidence for upcoming races.

Sergio Pérez is not worried about Red Bull’s dip in performance at the Miami Grand Prix, where the team struggled against McLaren F1 and had to contend with Ferrari. He explains that the behind-the-scenes work over the past ten days has greatly helped the team.

“I returned to the factory, and we did a good job in the simulator. We realized we took the wrong direction in certain areas, and when you combine these, it has a major impact, especially on the race, and that’s what happened,” Pérez stated.

The Mexican driver is pleased that Red Bull still managed to succeed during the Miami weekend and notes that it’s good for Formula 1 to have battles at the front and for victory once again.

“We weren’t strong during this weekend, but we did well because we were still the team that left with the most points. The pressure is now on the whole team because Ferrari and McLaren can fight against us, and it’s good that other teams are competing for the win, it will be interesting.”
