Formula 1 confirms its 2026 race calendar: 24 Grands Prix, new Madrid debut, Imola removed, and 100% sustainable fuel cars.
The FIA and Formula 1 have announced the calendar for the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship, which will see the introduction of a new circuit, new teams, and new regulations for the next generation of F1 cars running on 100% sustainable fuels.
Kicking off in Australia from March 6 to 8, the calendar—approved today by the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Macau—will feature 24 races, with the season finale taking place in Abu Dhabi from December 4 to 6.
In 2026, Ramadan will occur in February and March, meaning the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will again be held in April.
The 2026 calendar includes new improvements in the geographic distribution of races, notably with the Canadian Grand Prix now following Miami, from May 22 to 24, allowing for significant freight savings through direct equipment transport. However, this will cause an inconvenient clash for motorsport fans.
This change creates a consolidated European leg of the season during the summer months, beginning in Monaco from June 5 to 7 and ending in Spain, where Madrid will make its Formula 1 debut from September 11 to 13.
It is worth noting that during this European phase, Barcelona will still be on the calendar in June, but under the name Grand Prix of Barcelona-Catalunya.
The championship then returns to Asia with the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix, followed by a triple-header in the Americas, before Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi once again close out the season.
The dates for the F1 Sprint weekends will be revealed at a later time.
As for winter testing, three sessions are expected: one in Europe, likely in Barcelona, and two in Bahrain. The first, known as the “private” winter test, will take place at the end of January and will be open to all competitors. It will last five days, but each team will only be allowed to run for three days, potentially allowing time to address any issues.
The two “public” winter tests will last three days and take place in February at Sakhir.
