Haas F1 acknowledges ongoing negotiations with Esteban Ocon for a potential 2025 seat, highlighting the team’s openness to considering various driver options.
Haas F1 has confirmed that Esteban Ocon is in the running for a seat in 2025.
Amid the current downturn in Alpine’s performance, rumors are swirling that while Pierre Gasly may stay beyond 2024, Esteban Ocon is exploring his options.
“We feel no pressure regarding the driver market because we have two good drivers,” insisted team principal Bruno Famin in Monaco. “We would be happy to continue with them.”
But would the current drivers be happy to stay with a team that continues to disappoint? That is far from certain. Ocon is linked to a seat with Audi F1 (if Sainz declines) and now with Haas F1.
Haas has at least one seat to fill after Nico Hulkenberg recently signed with Sauber/Audi. Ferrari-backed Oliver Bearman is the favorite for that seat. However, Kevin Magnussen’s position for 2025 is not yet secured.
“We Are in Talks with Several Drivers,” Confirms Haas F1 Boss Ayao Komatsu in Monaco
“We are in talks with several drivers,” confirmed team boss Ayao Komatsu in Monaco.
“I have no reason to close the door on anyone at this stage.”
“If someone approaches us and shows interest, I won’t shut the door. Esteban (Ocon) is one of them, but he’s just one among many.”
Haas F1 has made significant progress in 2024, although both cars were disqualified after Saturday’s qualifying when technical inspectors found the DRS opening was illegal.
Komatsu remains optimistic.
“Of course, sporting results are noticed by everyone. I am grateful that some current F1 drivers are interested in our team.”
