Lando Norris reacts after Piastri grabs pole at Imola, admitting poor pace and facing another tough Sunday comeback in the Grand Prix.
Lando Norris didn’t hide his frustration after a tough qualifying session at Imola. While his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri stormed to pole position, Norris had to settle for P4.
Max Verstappen and George Russell also outqualified him, pushing Norris further down the order.
“I guess I just wasn’t fast enough,” Norris admitted. “None of my Q3 laps this year have really been strong, and today was no different.”
He finished nearly three-tenths behind Piastri—a gap that clearly stung.
“Three tenths to Oscar? That hits hard,” he said. “It’s frustrating.”
Once again, Norris finds himself having to fight through the field on Sunday.
“Every weekend it’s the same story. I have to claw back places and move forward. And here, that’s going to be tricky. This track isn’t easy for overtaking.”
Still, he’s hoping to turn things around in the race.
“I didn’t get it done in quali, but I’ll try to make it a fun race tomorrow.”
