No Q3 for Haas: Bearman and Ocon Expecting Better

Haas drivers Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon failed to reach Q3, voicing frustration after a session that promised far more.

No Q3 appearance for the Haas F1 drivers, but neither Ollie Bearman, 14th, nor Esteban Ocon, 15th, were eliminated in Q1 during Q2.

Both drivers will gain one position on the grid thanks to a 10-place penalty handed to Yuki Tsunoda.

For Bearman, “The session was difficult, and I made things harder for myself in Q1 by missing the first lap. I was a bit on the back foot, but fortunately I managed to thread my way through the traffic to get a good lap in.”

“In Q2, we only had used tyres, which made things even trickier, but the car actually felt better on the used set. On the second run, I tried to push a bit more, but the tyres were gone by then, and we couldn’t make it through. I’m a bit disappointed with qualifying – the car was definitely more competitive than what the timesheets show – but I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s race.”

Ocon also noted “a somewhat complicated qualifying, for sure, especially on used tyres at the end of Q2. I think everything is still to play for tomorrow.”

“It’s hard to manage because of the tyre degradation, which comes without warning. So I hope we can still capitalise on some opportunities. We’ve done a solid job this weekend with what we had, but there’s still room for improvement.”
