Mick Schumacher confirms ongoing talks for a potential Formula 1 comeback in 2026, with Alpine F1 and Cadillac as likely options.
The former Haas driver and current Mercedes F1 reserve, now racing full-time in WEC and competing at Le Mans this weekend with Alpine, has regularly been mentioned in connection with a comeback to Formula 1.
Paddock reports from Le Mans suggest he may be in contact with Briatore for a seat at the Alpine F1 team, or with the new eleventh team, Cadillac, for 2026.
“F1 is still an important topic for me,” Schumacher said at Le Mans.
“I’m still in talks about the future. I handle that when I’m not at the track here and have time to deal with it.”
Schumacher stressed that Formula 1 remains “my big goal in life – the dream of a lifetime.”
“What I want is to drive in Formula 1 and return there. That’s why I’m in discussions, even if I haven’t found answers yet.”
He encouraged F1 teams to seriously consider his candidacy.
“I think the teams know what they can get in me.”
“I can be at the front in any car and be fast, as my performances in WEC so far this year have shown.”
