Norris Eager for Challenge After Securing Third at GP

08/06/2024

Lando Norris gears up for a thrilling race in Montreal, eager to convert his third-place start into a Grand Prix victory.

Lando Norris qualified third at the Canadian Grand Prix, content to remain a pole contender. The Woking-based team continues to set the pace at the front of the pack, and he is undeterred by missing out on pole by less than three hundredths of a second.

“I’m absolutely delighted. First off, congratulations to Mr. Russell; he has been quick throughout the weekend—kudos to him and Mercedes. But I am pleased. When it’s this close, you wonder what else could have been done in the car, but I’m happy and looking forward to tomorrow,” Norris stated.

“This is Montreal; that’s why we love it, and that’s why it’s one of the best circuits on the calendar. It’s a track that makes you smile, though setting a good time can be tricky, and you always think you might crash. But when you nail a good lap and land in the top 3, it’s a great feeling.”

Reminded of his overtakes last year and the challenge to replicate them to win tomorrow, the British driver was amused, acknowledging the race will be intense.

“Two overtakes tomorrow? That should be easy! I’m keen to see what we can achieve. The car has been strong all season, especially in the recent races. But with two very fast drivers ahead and several speedy ones behind, it should be quite the spectacle.”
