Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri focus on excelling in Monaco, aiming for strong qualifying performances as McLaren pays tribute to Ayrton Senna.

Lando Norris is on a strong run, with a win in Miami and a close second to Max Verstappen at Imola. The McLaren F1 driver aims to excel in qualifying in Monaco and hopes to replicate his recent success this weekend as the team honors Ayrton Senna’s career.

“This is one of the toughest weekends on the calendar. It’s not the easiest track to overtake on, but qualifying is one of the most exciting challenges in motorsport. It’s about getting up to speed quickly and building confidence from the first practice session,” the Brit noted.

“It was great to fight for the win at Imola, showing we have a lot of potential for the future. Monaco will also be special as we’ll race with a livery paying tribute to Senna. It looks fantastic, and I’m excited to drive on this special circuit with it.”

Oscar Piastri will sport a helmet inspired by Senna’s design, in addition to the car’s livery, for charity: “It will be an honor to race on the streets of Monaco with our special Senna livery. He was a master of this circuit with six wins, and it’s important to pay tribute to such a legend of our sport.”

“I’ve also designed a special helmet, and I will auction one of my helmets to raise funds for the Ayrton Senna Institute, which does incredible work providing opportunities and transforming lives.”

On the sporting side, Piastri is eager and confident to compete in Monaco: “The last two race weekends in Miami and Imola have been among my best in F1, and it’s exciting to head to Monaco with good momentum.”

Andrea Stella, the team principal, outlines the weekend’s objectives, building on previous races.

“We approach the Monaco Grand Prix after another podium. We’re achieving consistent results and fighting for victories, which is positive. Monaco is a unique circuit because it’s harder to gain positions during the race. But it’s not impossible.”

“Monaco is also a special place for McLaren. We’ve won many races here with Ayrton Senna, so it’s fitting to honor him by racing with a livery inspired by his helmet.”
