McLaren F1 Does Not Rule Out a Win This Season

McLaren F1 Does Not Rule Out a Win This Season

15/04/2024

McLaren F1 remains optimistic about their competitive prospects, openly maintaining the possibility of securing a race win in the ongoing season, underscoring their determination and strategic improvements.

Red Bull Racing appears to be the undisputed number one in the current Formula 1 season. This is similar to last season, when Max Verstappen won 19 races.

In this context, McLaren team boss Andrea Stella would be “already happy” to compete with teams like Ferrari, Mercedes, and Aston Martin for their place in the constructors’ championship.

Stella shares his thoughts on what is achievable after the first four races.

“I think Red Bull has already shown that they are very competitive. And we would certainly be very happy if we could fight with Ferrari, with Mercedes, with Aston Martin. They definitely have significant improvements to their car underway or upcoming. And we will have ours too.”

“So it’s difficult to predict who will finish where, but playing for 3rd place in the championship seems possible to us. 2nd, ahead of Ferrari? That will be tougher but we are not ruling anything out.”

Can Norris win a race this season?

When asked if Norris would finally win a race this season, Stella does not rule it out.

“We are working very hard to ensure that this is the case. And I think we are becoming more and more positive and optimistic that not only Lando but Oscar will have their chances this year. And as I said, we will rely a lot on the quality of the work we do to improve the car.”

“We’ll see after Miami what kind of step forward we can make with our first major upgrade package, and then we’ll go from there.”

“We are really working hard to give Lando and Oscar, the equipment and the car so that they can race at the front.”
