Kevin Magnussen faces an uncertain future at Haas F1 as team director Ayao Komatsu stresses the need for consistent weekend performances to secure his position.
Kevin Magnussen must fight for his future with Haas F1, according to team director Ayao Komatsu.
Nico Hulkenberg has already announced his departure from Haas at the end of this season, moving to Stake before it transitions to Audi in 2026. Magnussen has been with Haas for almost all their seasons in Formula 1, except for two. However, with drivers like Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon linked to the American team, Komatsu confirms that the Dane’s position is under threat.
“Yes, it is. I can’t say much more, but of course, he must perform. If he can replicate what he did in Imola consistently, that would be very, very good. Kevin needs to be able to perform throughout the weekend, and that’s not always the case.”
When pressed to reveal the names of drivers he might be considering, Komatsu declined to make them public.
“I can’t, it would be very unfair to those I’m talking to. You wouldn’t be happy if you spoke to me in confidence and I repeated it elsewhere!”
