Scuderia Ferrari announces a key change, with Bryan Bozzi replacing Xavi Marcos as Charles Leclerc’s race engineer from the Imola GP.
Scuderia Ferrari HP announced tonight that starting Monday, May 13, Xavi Marcos will no longer be the race engineer for Charles Leclerc.
Without further details on this organizational change, Ferrari adds that he will bring “his valuable experience gained as a race engineer within the Formula 1 team to the development of other important company programs.”
Bryan Bozzi, who has been with the team for ten years and currently serves as Leclerc’s performance engineer, will now assume the role of race engineer starting from the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola.
Xavi Marcos began his motorsport career as a race engineer for BNC Racing. He made his first foray into Formula 1 while working for the new HRT team as a performance engineer from 2010 to 2012. After the team’s closure, he joined Williams Racing as a performance engineer for Felipe Massa.
Seeking a new challenge, Marcos decided to move to the United States to become the chief race engineer for NASCAR’s Richard Childress Racing in 2015. Marcos returned to Formula 1 with Scuderia Ferrari, initially as a factory race engineer in 2018, and then became Charles Leclerc’s race engineer when he joined the team in 2019, staying with the Monegasque ever since.
