Leclerc reveals what truly sets Hamilton apart at Ferrari

Charles Leclerc opens up on two standout qualities of Lewis Hamilton since his Ferrari arrival, highlighting racing skill and elite discipline.

Charles Leclerc has discovered Lewis Hamilton’s qualities this year, as the seven-time Formula 1 world champion joined Ferrari. The driver of car number 16 has observed that the Briton possesses a strength in his driving that he had never seen before.

“I was expecting a lot, a lot from Lewis, obviously, with him joining the team and having so much success,” said Leclerc. “In F1, you expect to see speed, special things in terms of driving. So, that was expected. Yet I was still surprised by the way he brakes, for example.”

“I think the way he brakes late is very, very, very impressive. Throughout my career, I’ve always braked later than my teammates. And it’s a driving style I haven’t seen in any of my previous teammates. I think Lewis is a step ahead in that area. So, that caught me off guard.”

The Monegasque admits that what impresses him most about his new teammate is his ability to handle competition alongside his other commitments: “But beyond that, I think it’s actually everything else that surprised me the most. And these were things I didn’t expect. His discipline is very, very impressive.”

“From the outside, I remember watching him manage so many different things. And I thought, ‘that must be difficult.’ But when you see how well everything is organized, you understand he’s 200% focused on racing. Everything is set up perfectly so that his other projects run smoothly without him being involved on a daily basis.”

“He’s an example to me, because we all have passions, we all have projects outside of racing. But obviously, for all of us, the most important thing is to remain focused on racing. And I think Lewis is very, very impressive in that regard.”
