Racing Bulls’ Lawson shines in Monaco F1 practice, while Hadjar impresses with raw speed despite crashes on the tight street circuit.
Liam Lawson finished fifth on the opening day of practice in Monaco. The Racing Bulls driver is taking nothing for granted, knowing that there’s significant room for improvement for everyone on the streets of the Principality.
Lawson Relishes Monaco Debut
“It’s definitely a positive day. This is a track where you have to keep improving throughout the weekend, and we’ll need to continue tomorrow. We made a lot of changes today and will make more tomorrow, but it was a positive day,” said Lawson, who enjoyed his time in Monaco.
“It’s better in a Formula 1 car. I’ve done it in a Formula 2 car, but F1 cars are nicer, more manageable, and it’s a lot of fun. It’s very special to be able to drive here, but tomorrow will be an important day.”
Hadjar Battles Monaco Mayhem
Isack Hadjar posted an impressive sixth-fastest time, but it was a tough day for the Frenchman, especially in FP2 where he had two incidents: “It was intense for me. Free practice in Monaco is much more challenging with the traffic.”
“I enjoyed it, but it was also tough. I had a tricky day, brushed the wall, and got scared in FP2 because I thought it was over, but I managed to bring the car back. I thought I wouldn’t be able to, but I did, and we were able to get more laps in on soft tires.”
