Lando Norris Aims to Rattle Verstappen

Norris Targets Verstappen’s Nerves

Lando Norris is pleased to finally apply pressure on Max Verstappen, following his strong performances in Miami and Imola.

Lando Norris is pleased to finally put pressure on Max Verstappen, following his victory at the Miami GP and a second-place finish at Imola, just under a second behind. The McLaren F1 driver hopes to continue this trend in the coming weeks.

“I did everything I thought was right at the time,” Norris said. “When you’re so close to the goal, you always wonder what you could have done a bit differently, but there’s always something you could have done better or differently.”

“I’m sure Max could review things and say the same. But it’s good to know it wasn’t easy for him. It was time someone put him under pressure and made him feel a bit nervous again, as I’m sure he hasn’t been for a while.”

“I don’t want to be overly confident – that’s never been my style – but we now want to approach races with confidence to take on Red Bull and Ferrari, because we’re in the same position as they are.”

Norris Tired of Underestimating McLaren

Norris speaks strongly about his team’s capabilities, explaining that he no longer wants to be modest in setting goals and placing limits that are too low for the Woking outfit’s potential.

“We’re a third of the way through the season, so there’s a lot of ground to cover. I think many, many things can happen. But Monaco is also a place where anything can happen. So I would never say ‘no’ again. I’m tired of underestimating what we can achieve as a team.”

“So, we are arriving with positivity. We’ve had a very good run of results – second, first, second – and there’s no reason why we can’t continue this here in Monaco. It’s not known to be the best circuit for us, but at the same time, anything can happen.”

This Weekend, McLaren Will Sport a Tribute Livery to Ayrton Senna

Norris admits he regrets not witnessing the career of the Brazilian triple world champion firsthand.

“Unfortunately, I never had the chance to see it myself. I wish I could have. Especially Senna around Monaco, which everyone has heard about, everyone has seen, and everyone has talked about. I wish I could turn back time and witness those kinds of things.”

“But it’s a celebration of Senna, what he did for Formula 1, what he achieved with McLaren. It’s a motivation not just for me, but for everyone in the team, given what he managed to accomplish. The victories, being the most successful driver here in Monaco—it’s the perfect place to honor him.”
