Aston Martin F1 team principal, Mike Krack, praised Fernando Alonso’s performance in China, despite challenges posed by the safety car affecting his race strategy.
Mike Krack, Aston Martin F1 Team Principal, welcomed the 7 points scored by Fernando Alonso at the Chinese Grand Prix. The Luxembourger lamented that his driver had to contend with a compromised strategy.
“Seven hard-earned points in Shanghai after a tumultuous weekend at the Chinese Grand Prix,” Krack stated.
“Fernando’s race, involving three stops, was compromised to an extent by the prolonged periods of the safety car, which nullified any advantage from the soft tires.”
“Fernando’s charge in the final laps, using new medium tires, provided much entertainment and brought him back to seventh place. We also secured a point for the fastest lap. It was a good damage limitation.”
Krack still refuses to blame Lance Stroll for the strike on Daniel Ricciardo and regrets an incident that he believes cost them points in the race.
“Lance’s solid race was nullified by the incident under the safety car.”
“We need to fully analyze what happened, but it was a chain reaction caused by the cars ahead.
“He was running well for points, had the best tire strategy, and was set to score. We’ll now analyze everything at the base before another sprint weekend in Miami.”
