Jordan Refutes Newey-Ferrari Contract Rumors

Newey’s Manager Debunks Ferrari Deal Claims

22/05/2024

Eddie Jordan has denied rumors of Adrian Newey joining Ferrari in 2025, emphasizing no deal is in place. Speculations emerged during the Imola Grand Prix.

Eddie Jordan has dismissed rumors suggesting that his friend and client, Adrian Newey, has already signed with Ferrari for 2025.

In the official statement announcing Newey’s departure from Red Bull, it was mentioned that the former F1 team owner, Jordan, aged 76, is now the British engineer’s manager.

Several commentators and journalists at Imola claimed that a contract or pre-agreement might already be in place, with the most assertive being Jonathan McEvoy, the Daily Mail’s F1 correspondent.

Jordan addressed these allegations clearly on his own podcast, “Formula For Success,” co-hosted with former F1 driver David Coulthard.

“It’s very irresponsible to assert that Adrian is joining a specific team. Speaking as someone who should know, I am not disclosing any information.”

“But I can swear on my life, there is no intention on Adrian’s part to head in any particular direction at the moment.”

“We are exploring opportunities and are open to discussions. Talks are happening, but we have yet to determine what Adrian himself wants to do.”

Given that Newey is 65, he might also decide to retire, although he has mentioned a desire for a new challenge in F1 for another 4 or 5 years.

“Yes, he has talked about a new challenge. But he’s been in F1 since he graduated. Leyton House, Williams, McLaren, and now Red Bull…”

“My God, the man is in his sixties, he’s got a new boat, I’d say that apart from all these potential teams, the fifth team he should consider is himself. Himself and his wife Amanda. So if he ultimately says ‘stop’, I wouldn’t be surprised.”

“They have a beautiful house in Cape Town, we see them a lot, they are good friends, and I have no idea what he will decide. And let’s be very clear, it will always be Adrian’s decision, but no clear decision has been made at this stage.”
