Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon visited Alpine F1’s factory to dissect the early season challenges and gear up for the Melbourne GP with renewed motivation.
The objective was to analyze all the data collected during the first two Grand Prix, which turned out to be very challenging in terms of performance for the French team.
With little hope of breaking into the top 10 on merit in the short term, Gasly heads into this weekend’s Australian GP in Melbourne reassured by the motivation he observed at Enstone.
“I feel fully prepared for this new opportunity in Melbourne this weekend. It’s not the season start we hoped for, but we fully anticipated it to be tough, and it was,” stated the Norman.
“Last week, I spent a few days in Enstone. It was great to spend time with many different people and discuss how we can improve. I also debriefed with the whole team to share my feelings about driving the car.”
“I see so much hunger and motivation in everyone at the team to improve our situation. We will continue to chip away, and Australia will allow us to further understand the equipment we have at our disposal.”
Next stop, Australia then!
“Albert Park provides a beautiful setting for Formula 1. It’s always an incredible weekend with the atmosphere and the fans’ passion for motorsports. It makes this event very special.”
“It’s a temporary circuit offering several different challenges. Grip can be quite low at the start of the week before track conditions improve, so it’s a place where you carefully build your pace. I’ve always enjoyed racing in Melbourne and I’m eager for the race weekend to start.”
“Australia is one of the calendar’s most challenging events in terms of jet lag. It’s not easy to overcome, and everyone has their methods in place to minimize its effects,” Gasly continues.
“I flew to Sydney a few days earlier than usual before the race in Melbourne. I hope these extra days will help us approach the weekend well. I simply like to stay active and energetic to have some peace of mind when things kick off in Melbourne. I feel ready!”
