FW46 on track in Bahrain The Williams F1 2024 car

First Look: The FW46 on track in Bahrain

20/02/2024

The Williams FW46 is the final single-seater yet to be unveiled, with the Grove team keeping us in suspense until today.

Indeed, it was this morning at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain that the last F1 car of the 2024 season was revealed (in still limited detail) through a photo and a brief video of it leaving the pits (see below).

Williams F1 is indeed conducting the shakedown of its car, limited to 200 kilometers, on the eve of the official tests set to begin tomorrow morning.

The Williams FW46 represents a significant evolution for the team in Formula 1. Visually, the vehicle stands out with a fully painted livery, suggesting confidence in the car’s weight management. This focus on aesthetics does not seem to compromise its performance, fueling speculation about a potential improvement in Williams’ competitiveness.

There is a general appreciation for the design, especially under natural lighting, where the blue paint, possibly enriched with metallic and pearl particles, catches the eye. It’s mentioned that the initial presentation might have used last year’s model painted in the current colors, a common practice to maintain the element of surprise on technical innovations. Despite potential delays related to testing, due to these updates since the launch, optimism abounds regarding the FW46’s speed and performance on the track, reinforced by positive reactions to its improved aesthetics and promising appearance.

Let’s hope Williams provides more images and/or videos throughout the day. Stay tuned to F1Lead!
