Finnish F1 driver Valtteri Bottas highlights a positive shift at Stake F1, emphasizing team morale as Audi’s 2026 entry approaches.
Valtteri Bottas has observed a shift in mindset at Sauber, now known as Stake F1, following several years under the Alfa Romeo banner. The Finnish driver notes that the anticipated arrival of Audi in 2026 is galvanizing the entire team within the Swiss outfit.
“Clearly, mentality plays a significant role. It’s not easy to implement changes after a few challenging seasons. What we need now are very good results. That would boost the morale,” Bottas stated.
“However, from what I’ve seen with Audi’s long-term commitment, people are realizing they want to be part of this team and they want to demonstrate their capability. Whether it’s the factory staff or the racing team, I’ve noticed a certain difference. They have to prove they deserve to be here as well.”
He is content with his position in the team and values the opportunity to play a different role among his mechanics and engineers: “My aspirations are even higher than what we’ve seen so far.”
“I feel that my role today is not just about driving the car. It’s also about trying to maintain the team spirit and motivate people when they start to feel a bit down, to tell them not to give up, but to keep giving their all.”
“So, I think my role has to remain the same, and if I start to show signs of frustration, it would spread, so I need to stay there, motivated, and continue to give everything I have.”
