Bearman Frustrated by DRS Train and Race Strategy

Esteban Ocon scores vital points with daring strategy, while Bearman laments missed chances in traffic-filled and tactically tricky Canadian race.

Esteban Ocon finished ninth in the Canadian Grand Prix after a well-executed one-stop strategy. The Haas F1 driver, as he often does, managed his tyres efficiently to secure two more points and maximize an unexpected result.

“We always have to try crazy stuff to get into the points, but it was a good call from the team to go for it. Every lap we were improving because the tyre wear was going away,” said Ocon.

“It felt like I had a newer tyre with each passing lap. I could easily have finished the race like that, but we had to pit. In any case, it was great from the team to attempt this, and we finish in the points, so it’s perfect.”

“It was intense, especially at the start. It was tight all the way, and with the Norris incident, I was just behind and had to avoid the debris. Then you never know if the race will resume or not. It was intense, but it was a well-managed race.”

Oliver Bearman finished 11th after a frustrating race: “I think there was more pace in the car. I got stuck in traffic due to the strategy, and with the DRS train, it’s impossible to overtake.”

The Briton expressed frustration over his weekend preparations: “Friday is still our weak point, but I’m happy the team scored points this weekend, and I’m focusing on the next race.”
