Lance Stroll edges out Fernando Alonso in Miami Sprint Qualifying, securing a fourth-row start for Aston Martin F1.
In a rare turn of events, Lance Stroll outpaced Fernando Alonso during the Sprint Qualifying at the Miami Grand Prix. The Aston Martin F1 driver is pleased with his starting position, especially since he achieved his time on worn soft tires.
“It was a good Sprint Qualifying. We opted to run on worn soft tires in Q3 and managed to qualify seventh, which sets us up nicely for tomorrow. Our aim will be to try and snatch some points during the Sprint,” stated the Canadian.
Alonso would have liked to perform better but didn’t find the conditions conducive to moving higher up the grid, with less than ideal settings: “There wasn’t much grip on the track today so the conditions were quite tricky for Sprint Qualifying.”
“But it was the same for everyone and we managed to get both cars into Q3, which was the goal. We haven’t had much track time, so there’s a bit of an unknown before tomorrow’s Sprint. We’ll see what we can do and try to have some fun.”
