The Bahrain Grand Prix: A Thrilling Race in Formula 1

The Bahrain Grand Prix is scheduled to take place on March 5, 2023, making it the inaugural race on the calendar. The International Circuit will host the first GP of the season. Following that, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, which made its debut in 2021 on the Jeddah street circuit, is back on the schedule. You can check the complete F1 calendar here.

Bahrain Grand Prix F1 International Circuit

Situated in the Sakhir desert, the Bahrain International Circuit features fifteen turns on its 5.4-kilometer track. Designed by Formula 1’s resident architect, Hermann Tilke, the circuit still holds the lap record set in its inaugural edition. Michael Schumacher clocked 1:30.252 in 2004.

The Middle Eastern circuit is notable for its four long straightaways, interconnected by hairpin turns, leading to frequent comparisons with the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya of the Spanish Grand Prix.

Contract

The Bahrain Grand Prix recently inked a new contract with Formula 1. Although the existing agreement between the two parties expired this season, the signatures on an extended contract have been finalized. As a result, the Bahrain Grand Prix will remain on the calendar until 2036. This marks the longest deal ever signed between Formula 1 and a Grand Prix.
